Mrs. Lucy Brandon Baugh Campbell, 87, retired dental assistant and resident of 5th Avenue, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. James Hughes and Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 6 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Church. On November 24, 1937 she married Sam Sherrell Campbell who preceded her in death December 19, 1961. Mrs. Campbell was employed as a dental assistant with Dr. Jim Baker for twenty-four years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women, the Young at Heart and the Ayers-Whitney Sunday School Class. She was a Maury Regional Hospital Volunteer Super Star. Survivors include two daughters, Betsy R. (Frank) Williams and Jane Alexander both of Columbia; two sisters, Eleanor Hardin of Petersburg and Bess (Bill) Scott of Spring, Texas; one brother, Frank (Mary Ann) Baugh of Nolensville; five grandchildren, Melanie (Denon) White, Greg N. Morris both of Columbia; Cass (Sharon) Campbell of Greer, South Carolina, Lucy Lee Alexander Mercer of Murfreesboro, Benton Thomas (Jessie) Alexander of Spring Hill; and eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Harmon, Ross Harmon, Benjamin White, Lindsey Morris, Rhett Mercer, Ansley Alexander, Abigale Alexander and Addison Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Sam Morris Campbell; two brothers, Edward Baugh and William F. Baugh; one sister, Martha Davenport; a son-in-law, Tommy Alexander; and a daughter-in-law Sue Cass Campbell. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ayers-Whitney Sunday School Class and Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
