View Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Ludie Mae Derryberry Burns, 83, homemaker and resident of Cranford Hollow Road, died Wednesday, January14, 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Frank Wells and Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday and Saturday evenings from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Frank A. Derryberry and Virgie Huckaby Derryberry. On April 7, 1951, she married James Edward Burns, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 29, 2004. She was a member of the Maury County Farm Bureau and Maury Farmers Co-op and enjoyed attending their functions. Mrs. Burns was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Michael) Beard of Columbia; one son, James E. "Jay" (Sharon) Burns, Jr. of Spring Hill; two sisters, Rebecca Harmon and Dorothy (Cliff) Johnson, both of Columbia; four grandchildren, Michelle (Trent) Hanes, Heather (Lee) Richards, Kevin Beard, Thomas Burns; four great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Hanes, Caraline Mae Hanes, Faith Adelynn Hanes, Chase Lee Richards; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Derryberry. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Burns, Kevin Beard, Trent Hanes, Lee Richards, Danny Lunn, Bobby Harmon, William Burns, Brian Hutchins, and Andy Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be John Waldrum, Dale Pearson, Robert Burns, Billy Crowe, Leon Walters, Jack Willis, nephews, and mall friends and buddies.
