View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Lula Mai Rochelle Riley, 86, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at NHC-Maury Regional Transitional Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 27 at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 16, 1936 in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late Hardy Rochelle and Myrtle Winters Rochelle. She married Hugh Riley in 1964 who preceded her in death on January 26, 1997. Mrs. Riley operated Lula’s Beauty Shop from her home for many years. She was also an artist who found great joy painting scenic landscapes, wildlife, and treasured places from childhood. Sharing these works with others gave her immense pleasure, especially in her final years. She was a member of Southpoint Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Tamela (Ronnie) Pitts of Columbia; son, Hugh Riley Jr. of Columbia; sister, Clara Lewis of Centerville; grandson, Kyle (Gracie) Pitts of Columbia; granddaughter, Bianca Paddy of Oak Ridge; great-granddaughter, Jasper Pitts of Columbia; many beloved cousins; and her faithful dog, Molly. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Rochelle, and brother, John Rochelle. Active pallbearers will be Kyle Pitts, Steve Riley, Bill Riley, Dustin Lewis, Kevin Kincade, and Jeff Estes. Honorary pallbearers include the staff of NHC-Maury Regional Transitional Care Center and Teresa Howse.
