L.W. Scribner Leonard W. Scribner, 85, owner of L.W. Scribner Construction Company and resident of Buck Matthews Road, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Baptist Select Rehab Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Lewis Scribner and Lula Adams Scribner. He was a 1938 graduate of Columbia Central High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Scribner was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and friend to many. He was an avid reader, a history buff and sports fan. A lifelong resident of Maury County, Mr. Scribner was a building contractor, real estate broker and developer of land and subdivisions in the county and surrounding areas. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Katie Brasher Scribner of Columbia; four daughters, Sharon (Dale) Bub of Brentwood, Judy Scribner, Denise (Ray) LeBlanc, Phyllis Scribner all of Columbia; one son, Robert Scribner of Columbia; three brothers, Roy Scribner, Ed Scribner, Albert (Lillian) Scribner all of Columbia; five grandchildren, Ginny (Kerry) Massey, Shannon Attkisson, Justin Attkisson, Brandon Attkisson; three great-grandchildren, Katie Gilbert, Peden Massey, Nathan Massey; and extended family, Carolyn Ball, Chrissy Ball and Terri Thompson. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michelle Fair and Robby Fair. Pallbearers will be Ray LeBlanc, Justin Attkisson, Brandon Attkisson, Kerry Massey, Dicky Welch, Steve McEwen, Jim Kitchen and Byron Farris. Honorary pallbearers will be Beverly Douglas, Jr., Leo Miller, Central High School Class of 1938 and members of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.
