Mrs. Lydia Thornton Rutledge, 86, retired employee of General Electric and longtime resident of Second Avenue, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Sumner County native was the daughter of the late H. W. Thornton and Ruby Mayhew Thornton. She was married to Hildon Everett Rutledge who preceded her in death on June 21, 2006. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sisters, Rosemary McCormick of Bethpage; Wanda (James) Thomas of Madison; and two nephews, Ken Thomas of Smyrna and Leon Thornton of Franklin, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be men of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
