Mrs. Macel Jean Harvey Woodward died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at her residence on 7th Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer and Rev. Arthur Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Dr., Columbia, TN 38401. She was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Woodward retired after 28 years of combined service with Bel-Air Nursing Home and Life Care Center. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Herman L. "Pete" Woodward of Columbia; daughter, Cheryl Carpenter of Spring Hill; son, Terry Woodward of Hendersonville; brother, Douglas (Inez) Harvey of Spring Hill; two sisters, Ina Vaughn of Columbia, Marie (George) Williams of Nashville; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Woodward and Brandon Woodward both of Millersville, Chris Carpenter and Shon Carpenter both of Spring Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Carpenter, Shon Carpenter, Wayne Harvey, Andy Harvey, Jeff Harvey, O.G. Church, Larry Jones and Ricky Caruthers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present friends at Life Care Center, friends at NHC Hillview and Heritage Manor, the staff at Hospice of the Highland Rim, Dr. Lester Porter, Dr. Thomas Farmer, Dr. William Robinson, Dr. John Simmons and Eddie Harvey.
