View Funeral Webcast Madge Colleen Sharp Jennings, 92, former long-time resident of Columbia, before moving to Murfreesboro in 2013 to be cared for by her loving and devoted son, Keith, died Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 P.M. at Rock Springs Cemetery with Reverend Richard VanCleave officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 1:00 P.M-2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 2242 Rock Springs Road, Columbia, TN 38401 or Rock Springs Cemetery Fund, c/o Elizabeth Payne, 4034 Commons Drive, Spring Hill, TN 37174. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 24, 1927, in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late John Hade Sharp and the late Curtie Mai Wright Sharp. On July 10, 1948, she married Frank Albert Jennings who preceded her in death December 1, 2004. She was a 1945 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Jennings worked several years as a telephone operator at the Columbia office of Southern Bell. She worked for many years with her husband in the family business (Jennings Automotive Service) and later at Patio Plus for several years. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid puzzle worker. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she served as clerk for many years, and also treasurer for the Rock Springs Cemetery Association. Survivors include her children, Denise Anne Jennings (Glenn) Summers of Decherd; Keith A. (Renѐ) Jennings of Murfreesboro; brother, Dr. Harry K. Sharp of Memphis; grandchildren, Glenn Thomas “Tommy” Summers, Jr. of Decherd; Jefferson Alan Summers of Estill Springs; Keith Alexander Jennings (fiancé, Mackenzie Bell) of Atlanta, Georgia; Erin Alyse Jennings of New York City, New York; great-grandchildren, Jordan Summers and Skylar Summers; nieces, Connie (Ron) Neal; Beverly (Ken) Horner; Ann (Garry) Gannon; Marilyn (Eddie) Vaughn; Sharon (Tim) Nolen; and nephew, Mark (Teresa) Sharp. Madge was very lucky to have devoted nieces, Connie Lovett Neal and Beverly Lovett Horner and nephew, Mark Sharp that came to visit for a monthly lunch date for many years. Connie would often play the piano for the residents at The Rutherford Assisted Living and always loved for everyone to put a Red Hat on for pictures. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Mai Sharp (Louis) Lovett; brothers, John Mahlon (Maree) Sharp, Grady Wayne (Edith) Sharp, and James Lewis Sharp; nephew, John Nance Sharp; and sister-in-law, Patti Sharp. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Vaughn, Mark Sharp, Tim Nolen, Ken Horner, Ron Neal, and Garry Gannon. Honorary pallbearers include Sam Wrather, Sam Andrews, Buddy Tomlin, and Charles Lee. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at The Rutherford Assisted Living for their loving care for the past six and half years.
