Mrs. James B. Ray Mrs. Maggie Nell McDaniel Ray, 86, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at her residence on Park Circle. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Ray Newell officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Luther McDaniel and Carrie Wittesett McDaniel, was educated in Marshall County schools and was a graduate of Belfast High School. She served as a private duty nurse at Maury County Hospital for a number of years and was a graduate of the hospital's first LPN Class. She was a long-time member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Her husband of sixty-five years, James Bentley Ray, died November 3, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Ray (Patrick Joseph, Jr.) Riley of Nashville; a son, James Edgar (Betty Russell) Ray of Franklin; three grandchildren, Katherine Ray (Rev. Ray) Chandler, Melissa Nell Riley, Allison Suzanne Riley; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Chandler, Bentley Ray Chandler, Shawn Patrick Riley. Active pallbearers are Lee Maddux, Randy Stevens, Anthony Orange, Robert Tate McDaniel, Presley Ramsey, Leslie Lasater, Richard Lasater. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Robert M. Johnson, Dr. Jeanne Ballinger, her loving and devoted caregivers, Ms. Effie Tellous, Ms. Mary Hall, Mrs. Edith Adkins, Mrs. Diane James; her nephews K.L. Osteen and Monte Osteen, and members of the Fellowship Class at Riverside United Methodist Church.
