Marcia Ray White Hughes

Marcia Ray White Hughes, 85, homemaker and resident of Columbia, died Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 9, 1936 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond White and the late Benidee Hirshorn White. On March 11, 1956, she married James B. “Doodle” Hughes, Sr. who preceded her in death February 16, 2011. She was a 1954 graduate of Central High School. She enjoyed flower gardening and watching hummingbirds. Mrs. Hughes loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Michael E. (Kristy) Hughes of Columbia, Tennessee; Paula B. (Gary) Montgomery of Rockvale, Tennessee ; James B. (Tracy) Hughes, Jr. of Killen, Alabama; grandchildren, Lucas M. (Julie) Smithson, Whitney Hughes (Ashton) Andrews, Cayce Smithson (Jordon) Wilder, Jessica Hughes (Cole) Bowling, Erin Michelle Hughes, Sidney Marie Hughes, Nathan James Hughes, Mindy Hutton, Adam Montgomery; and fourteen great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
