Margaret Anita Daniels Petty, 82, retired employee of Creekwood Clothing and resident of Columbia, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Nebo Cemetery Fund, c/o Carol E. Baker, P.O. Born April 28, 1937 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Daniels, Sr. and the late Gracie Clifton Daniels. In 1959, she married James Lewis Petty who preceded her in death August 24, 1993. She was a 1956 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She worked for Weather Tamer and Winning Moves. Mrs. Petty enjoyed quilting and sewing. An avid gardener, she loved her flowers, and was known to have a green thumb. Mrs. Petty enjoyed blue grass music and was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, James Ross (Missy) Petty of Columbia; grandchildren, James Adam Petty, Ashley Lauren Petty; sister, Wilma Oliver of Columbia; mother of her grandson, Tammy Petty; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Wayne Petty and Adam Petty; brothers, Charles Daniels, Perry Daniels, Jimmy Daniels, and Bud Daniels; and sisters, Peggy Hill, and Juanita Polk. Pallbearers will be her family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include members of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special thanks to doctors, nurses, and staff at Maury Regional Hospital and NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care for their great care to Mrs. Petty.
