MRS. MARGARET BURGESS Mrs. Margaret Shull Burgess, 87, resident of Crestland Drive, died Monday, July 14, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Friday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Newell officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Columbia, South Carolina native was the daughter of the late Julian Lon Shull and Rosalie Houser Shull. She was married to John H. Burgess who preceded her in death December 9, 1996. She was a graduate of Anniston, Alabama High School and a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Jack Burgess of Columbia; daughter, Judith (Jim) Kinney of Richmond, Virginia; brother, J. Kenneth Shull of Boone, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Becky Wilson of Columbia, Deirdre Gabriel of Alexandria, Virginia, Nicole Burgess of Wilmington, North Carolina and John Burgess, III, of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Shull. Pallbearers will be Charles Blasingame, James Lee Johnson, Phillip Johnson, David Kelker, Jerry Beck, Gerald Martin and Bob Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be wonderful friends and staff at NHC HomeCare.
