MRS. MARGARET CHILDREY Mrs. Margaret Follis Childrey, 81, a resident of Columbia, died Friday, August 22, 2003 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Adair and Rev. Jim Collins officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church Fund, Gideons International, or the American Cancer Society. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late J. W. and Gertrude Burrow Follis. Her husband of fifty-eight years, Davis B. "Buster" Childrey, preceded her in death on September 23, 1998. Mrs. Childrey was a volunteer with the Maury County Red Cross for over twenty-five years and was selected Volunteer of the Year in 1998. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and served as church historian. Survivors include one daughter, Gayle London and her husband Steve of Columbia; two grandchildren, Melissa Wray and her husband Jeff of Hampshire; Dan London of Murfreesboro; one great grandson, Steven Wray of Hampshire; and one sister, Clara Totty of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Ennis Haley, Sam Beddingfield, Jeff Wray, Herman Lewis, Freddie Goodman, and LeRoy Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class, Doris Haley and Vivienne Troope.
