Margaret Akin Grimmitt, 93, longtime resident of Catheys Creek Road in the Hampshire Community, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jimmy Adcox and David Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Kittrell Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kittrell Cemetery Fund, c/o Dan Shannon, 4668 Catheys Creek Road, Hampshire, TN 38461. Grimmitt who preceded her in death on July 16, 1997. She was a graduate of Hampshire High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. She was a member of Catheys Creek Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ann (Jimmy) Adcox of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three sons, Bobby (Pat) Grimmitt and Everett (Dot) Grimmitt, both of Hampshire; Dan (Joyce) Grimmitt of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Hautense Walton of Nashville; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Sherrie (David) Long, Mrs. Elizabeth (Michael) Wenghoffer, Harry Lee (Cindy) Grimmitt; Mrs. Tracie Williams, Debbie Grimmitt, Randy Grimmitt, Jay (Alexis) Adcox, Jon Adcox, Julie Adcox; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Harry Grimmitt and one brother, Bill Akin. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Catheys Creek Church of Christ, doctors and staff of NHC Columbia, Blair Pogue, Frank Cathey, and special friend Olivia Whiteside.
