Mrs. Margaret Rachael Davis Johnson, 89, long-time resident of the Hampshire Community and clerk at Whiteside's Self-Service for 34 years, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Hidden Acres Healthcare in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols with Hueston Marshall and David Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Worley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson was a long-time member of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ. She was married March 15, 1940 to Leanoard "Doc" Johnson, who died April 9, 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Jimmy) Akin of Hampshire; a son, David "Doc" Johnson of Hampshire; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Anne (Todd) Baxter of Santa Fe, Brandon Johnson of Leighton, Alabama, and Megan Johnson of Hampshire; 2 great-grandchildren, Tanner Baxter and Rachael Baxter. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Johnson; a granddaughter, Carole Akin; a great-grandson, Cody Baxter; 2 sisters, Hazel Thomas and Velma Moore; and a brother, Sam Davis.
