Maria Thompson Knox

Maria Knox Mrs. Maria Thompson Knox, 41, pre-school teacher at Columbia Academy and resident of School St. in Culleoka, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Barry Farris and Larry Benderman officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Academy, 1101 W. Seventh St., Columbia, TN 38401. She was a 1982 graduate of Culleoka High School and earned an Associates Degree from Columbia State Community College. Maria was a faithful member of Stiversville church of Christ, a devoted wife and lifelong friend. Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Jerry Knox of Culleoka; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Peggy Knox of Lynnville; maternal grandmother, Margaret Ashton of Columbia; paternal grandmother, Reba Claire Thompson of Culleoka; one sister, Diana (Jay) Thornell; twenty-two nieces and nephews; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be Ben Knox, David Knox. Daniel Knox, Todd Knox, Jeremy Knox, Sam Jones, Joel Love, Jacob Love, Joshua Love, Cody Riley and Preston Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Foster, Robert Thompson, Joe Gill, Marty Smith, Kevin Hale, Jay Thornell, Troy Dugger, Tony Dugger, men of Stiversville church of Christ and Columbia Academy pre-school teachers.
