Marlin Cecil West, 89, retired Assistant Fire Chief for the Camden Fire Department in Camden, Arkansas and resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 4:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Ryan Tatum officiating and military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:30 P.M. till 4:30 P.M at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Sardis Cemetery in Sparkman, Arkansas, with Reverend Larry Hudson officiating.

Born October 7, 1934 in Rye, Arkansas, he is the son of the late Estol West and the late Thelma Overman West. He was a graduate of Harmony Grove High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. West enjoyed building things, doing yardwork, and was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons and great-grandsons. Mr. West was a member of the C1 Church in Columbia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma Frances Dickey West; daughters, Kelly (Dr. Robert D.) Myers and Shana West; grandsons, Dr. Ethan (Aubrie) Myers and Jacob Myers; great-grandsons, Mason Myers and Rowan Myers; brother, Leland West; sister, Pat Grace; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Renee West; and five siblings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Bibb, Jim Burrow, Larry Wannamaker, Harold Hidle, and Allen Sweat.
