View Funeral Webcast Ms. Martha Dean McDonald Gilliam, 77, a resident of Columbia, died Friday, August 6, 2021 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Gilliam will be conducted Saturday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist with Rev. Lee Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family requests that all attendees at the visitation follow CDC guidelines on social distancing and facial coverings are required. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 1, 1943 she was the daughter of the late William Thomas McDonald and the late Louise Brooks McDonald. She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1961. Mrs. Gilliam was a loan officer and processor for Evers & Jones Realty from 1974 – 2002. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbia where served in the church choir for over 50 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW). Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Diane “Cindy” (Bart) Hubbs of Franklin; brother, Robert C.D. “Bobby” (Patti) McDonald of Cumming, Georgia; nephews, William Thomas McDonald IV of Dickson, Gary Lee Golden of Franklin, Forrest Hunter McDonald of Ocala, Florida and Robert Scott Collins McDonald of Alphretta, Georgia; one great niece and five great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Brooks McDonald Golden and her brother, William Thomas “Tommy” McDonald III. Active pallbearers will be Bill Arnett, Ernie Parrish, David Kirchhoff, Tommy Vann, Mike Lamberth, Billy Booker and Gary Golden. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church 222 West 7th Street, Columbia, Tennessee 38401.
