Mrs. Martha Ellen Estep Gosnell, 82, former resident of Columbia and Davidson County, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital following an extended illness. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Brick Church Cemetery in Giles County with Milton Nesbitt and Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at Brick Church Presbyterian Church in Giles County. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was married to Kelly Douglas Gosnell who preceded her in death on February 28, 2002. She was a 1943 graduate of Beech Hill High School. Mrs. Gosnell had worked in the Metro Public School System in Davidson County and was former ward clerk at Miller Medical Center and Maury Regional Hospital. Survivors include one granddaughter, Kelly Gosnell (Paul) Troutt of Goodlettsville; one grandson, Andrew (Mandi) Gosnell of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Donna Smith Gosnell of Nashville; five sisters, Dorothy Prosser, Loyce Shaw, Joyce (Norris) Shaw, all of Pulaski; Geneva (Gene) Guess of Wesson, Mississippi; Gladys Brown of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Lawrence (Ruth) Estep of Racine, Wisconsin; Lemuel Estep of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Doyne Harrison Gosnell; two sisters, Mary Harris and Bernice Holland; and four brothers, Herman Estep, Roscoe Estep, Edward Estep, and Wayde Estep. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
