Martha Kimbrough Johnson, 95, retired seamstress and resident of Denham Avenue, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Wilson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born August 7, 1923 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Laken Kimbrough and the late Jennie Mildred Fogg Kimbrough. In 1944, she married Adrian Leamon Johnson who preceded her in death May 23, 1982. Mrs. Johnson worked several years at Tennessee Knitting Mills and later retired from Edric Manufacturing. A talented seamstress, she also enjoyed knitting and making dishcloths. She loved growing and caring for her indoor flowers and plants. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class. Survivors include her son, Adrian Terrell (Linda) Johnson of Columbia; granddaughter, Gwendolyn Lee Johnson (Chris) Jett of Culleoka; great grandson, William Ethan Jett of Culleoka; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lunette Harris, Stephanie, David & Ethan Hancock, and Bobbie Kelley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ozella Tate, Elizabeth Brown, Mildred Potts, Ura Kimbrough; and five brothers, Floyd Kimbrough, Edgar Kimbrough, Terrell Kimbrough, Clayborn Kimbrough, and Clarence Kimbrough. Active pallbearers will include William Perry Kimbrough, Jerry Johns, Barry Rankin, Stephen Rankin, Mike Jett, David Hancock, Charles Dillehay, Ethan Hancock, and Sam Beddingfield. Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. Anuradha Mann, staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center, and members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class.
