Martha Frances Bond Laughmiller, 90, retired teacher and resident of Park Circle, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Chip Hunter and Reverend Melinda Britt officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Private family burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 15, 1926 in Bethesda, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John Lawrence Bond and Naoma Alexander Bond. She married Winford Chester "Ned" Laughmiller who preceded her in death December 11, 2014. She graduated from Franklin High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in education from Peabody College. She was a teacher for forty years and taught at Duponte High School and Witthorne Junior High School. Her greatest joys where being with family and friends, playing bridge, and sitting on the porch at the farm. Mrs. Laughmiller was a member of the Ayers Whitney Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church, the garden club, and many bridge clubs. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Laughmiller Davis of Bethesda; grandsons, John Lawrence (Thankful) Davis of Signal Mountain, TN; Massie Bond Davis and William Alexander Davis both of Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren, Marion Light Davis and John Levi Davis both of Signal Mountain, TN; sister-in-law, Rachel Warren Bond of Franklin; niece, Fonda (Larry) Walker of Bowling Green, KY; nephew, Anthony (Ashley) Bond of Nashville; great nieces and great nephews; ;Avery Bond, Jack Bond, Mimi Bond, Beau Bond, Katie Jane Walker, and Brady Walker; and special caregivers, Mary Ann Hughes, Valerie Gant, Tracy Cozey, and Gladys Williams. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Alexander Bond.
