View Funeral Webcast Martha Mae Duncan, 80, retired Lab Supervisor at Centennial Medical Center and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Williamsport Methodist Church with Reverend David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsport Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 23, 1941 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Paul Duncan and the late Lila Pearl Cude Duncan. She was a 1959 graduate of Columbia Central High School, she attended Memphis State for 2 years, and earned her Bachelors of Applied Science from the College of the Ozarks in 1979. Martha was certified by American Medical Technologist in 1964 and served in numerous offices including President from 1971-1972, Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, Editor, and Ex-Officio. She was awarded many State and National awards, including Silver Lens in 1970, President’s Award in 1970, 1974, 1978, 1982, and 1998, Technologist of the Year, Merit Award, Distinguished Achievement in 1971, Exceptional Merit in 1974, Newsletter in 1981, and Silver Service in 2018. Miss Duncan’s most prestigious award was the Dusty Rhodes Life Award in 1988. She was a member of the Southern Association of Clinical Tech, the American Medical Technology Society, and Williamsport United Methodist Church. Survivors include her brother, Donald (Kathy) Duncan of Linden; sister-in-law, Dorothy Duncan; and nephews, Greg (Lynde) Duncan of Coopertown; Samuel Duncan of Columbia; and David (Ashlea) Dunacn of Smyrna; great nieces and nephews, Nicole (Dylan) Dunford of Springfield; Sarah Duncan of Springfield; Paul Duncan of Columbia; Noah Duncan of Smyrna; Vera Duncan of Smyrna; Ella James Moore of Smyrna; great great nephews, James Dunford; Asher Duncan; and special niece-in-law, Corbin Duncan of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bob” Duncan. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Melinda Bart and the staff at NHC Columbia.
