Martha Pogue Love, 88, resident of Carters Creek Pike, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at her home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Charles Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 23, 1931 in Pisgah Ridge, she was the tenth of eleven children of Joseph Lafayette Pogue and Lou Vertie Garner Pogue. On August 23, 1947, she married Nathan Aster Love, they were married for 61 years before his death September 16, 2008. She attended Hampshire School. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was kind, generous, and always put others first. Mrs. Love enjoyed working on the farm, raising animals, gardening, flowers and putting up vegetables. She was known for being a good cook, making her family wonderful meals, and always took care of her family. Mrs. Love was a member of Beach Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Betsy Love; Douglas Love both of Columbia; Gary (Carol) Love of Killen, Alabama; granddaughter, Jennifer (Scott) Kennedy of Killen, Alabama; sister, Norma Jean Lentz of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Ray Hutcherson, Tom Tindell, Mark Rector, Ronnie Smithson, Larry Witherow, and Wayne Pogue. Honorary pallbearers include men of Beechgrove Church of Christ.
