Martha Elizabeth Gray Walls

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Gray Walls, 77, retired daycare operator and homemaker, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her residence on 2nd Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. James Prewitt officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Cleveland Carson "Cleve" Walls, Sr. of Columbia; a daughter, Edith Jane Swafford of Mt. Juliet; a son, Cleveland Carson (Jolene) Walls, Jr. of Columbia; four sisters, Doris Evelyn (Steve) Miller of Crown Point, Indiana, Mary Franklin (Loyd) Craft of Murfreesboro, Linda Sue (Loyce) Anderson of Columbia, and Betty Jean Dale of Columbia; five grandchildren, Colin Joe Walls, Carlson Gray Swafford, Arielle Michelle Swafford, Michael Swafford, Jr., and Jeromy Swafford; six great-grandchildren, Alex Swafford, Brittany Swafford, Caitlyn Swafford, Dylan Fatone, Jeromiah Swafford, and Harper Swafford; beloved sister-in-law, Lillian Adell Gray of Columbia; nine nieces and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Pearl Gray and two brothers, Malcolm E. Gray, Jr. and Charles Edward Gray. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
