View Funeral Webcast Mary Allie Anderson Blocker, 95, retired employee of Publix Manufacturing, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at her residence in the Cathey’s Creek Community.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer and Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Morrow Cemetery, c/o Linda Dunn, 1628 Hayes Denton Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born September 29, 1922 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Jake Cooper Anderson and the late Martha Jane Slate Anderson. She was married to John Wesley Blocker who preceded her in death December 1, 1979. Mrs. Blocker was a graduate of Hampshire High School and had been employed at various shirt factories before her retirement from Publix Manufacturing. She enjoyed cross-stitching and sewing. Mrs. Blocker was a member of Southpoint Church of Christ.Survivors include her daughters, Gail (Frank) Cathey of Hampshire and Mary Ann (Ray) Dotson of Columbia; sisters, Maggie Lee McMeen of Duck River and Virginia (Calvin) Skirven of Nashville; grandson, John Ray Dotson of Nashville; sister-in-law, Faye Blocker of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Spears; and two brothers, Luther Anderson and Lester Ray Anderson.Active pallbearers will be Barry Clay, Alvin Blocker, Danny Murphy, Rick Dunn, Bryan Dunn, Tony Murphy, Eddie Anderson, Todd Baxter, Gene Ray Baxter, and Thomas Runions. Honorary pallbearers will include men of Southpoint Church of Christ, Dr. Thomas Dake, and Dr. Gibran Naddy. The family would like to express a special thanks to the caregivers for Mrs. Blocker during the past two years: Pam Youngblood, Linda Dunn, Faye Blocker, Evaline Sims, Linda Sue Kincade, Janice Bridges, Carla Murphy, Anna Mae Murphy, Wanda Tracy, Perlene Watkins, Amanda Lewis, Kay Casias, and Sharon Shaw Sims and the staff of Hospice Compassus.
