View Funeral TributeView Funeral Webcast Mary Alma Nicks Robertson, 99, longtime resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at Life Care Center of Columbia.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born June 11, 1919 in Centerville, she was the daughter of the late Elton Sewell Nicks and the late Jessie B. Garner Nicks. She attended schools in Hickman County. On June 20, 1940, she married Lanis B. Robertson and they were married sixty-four years. During World War II, the couple lived in Old Hickory, Tennessee and Joliet, Illinois where Mr. Robertson worked for DuPont. They moved back to Tennessee after the war ended and settled in Centerville where they ran a drug store. In 1953 they moved to Columbia. Mrs. Robertson was a wonderful cook and no one ever left her table hungry. She had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh and joke. Her animals brought her great love and joy. She was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ.Survivors include her daughters, Cindy R. (Dan) Waters of Mt. Juliet and Jan R. (Jerry) Rooker of Lynnville; grandchildren, Michael (Jenny) Haddock of Lynnville and Christi (Alan) Hooper of Culleoka; great grandchildren, Lucy Haddock and Mary Haddock, both of Lynnville, and Kaylin Gibson and Miley Hooper, both of Culleoka.She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband.Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family wishes to thank the staff of Life Care Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Robertson during her extended stay and Dr. Gibran Naddy and his staff for her medical care.
