View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Mrs. Mary Ellis Hann Brooks, 95, retired LPN and former resident of the Mooresville Pike in Culleoka, died Monday, July 21, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Daimwood officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Ellis Hann and Mary Jane McGill Hann. On November 22, 1936 she married Thomas Morrow Brooks who preceded her in death November 18, 1997. She was a former longtime resident of Cathey's Creek and Bryant Station before moving to Culleoka. Mrs. Brooks was employed as a nurse in the maternity ward at Maury Regional Medical Center for twenty-two years where she loved taking care of the newborn babies and their mothers. She loved growing flowers, yard work, gardening and canning and was a former member of the Home Demonstration Club in Bryant Station. She was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ and former longtime member of Smyrna Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Velma Moore of Culleoka, Ruby Scott of Columbia; son, Jimmy Ray Brooks of Lewisburg; brother, Lewis Anderson (Ella Jane) Hann of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Carl (Kathy) Moore, Dean Moore, Debbie (Mike) Davis, Patty Scott, Pam Cunningham, Lori (Keith) Grimes, Sherry (Lloyd) Walters, Tommy (Gina) Parks, Troy (Angie) Parks and Joey (Lea Ann) Scott; twenty one great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Brenda Barnhill. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two daughters, Charlotte Lentz and Mary Parks; three sons-in-law, Nelson Scott, Clyde Lentz and Howard Moore; two grandchildren, Greg Lentz, Tammy Lentz Gray; two sisters, Clara Morrow and Dessie Baker; and four brothers, Bill Hann, John Hann, Thomas Hann and Walter "Perk" Hann. Grandsons and Great Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Ray Morrow, Troy Parks and members of Ephesus Church of Christ. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Life Care and The Bridge, where she had made her home for the past year, for taking such good care of Mrs. Brooks.
