Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.The youngest of 10 children, she was the daughter of the late Ocy Blocker and the late Nena Bishop Blocker, born on May 19, 1930 in Hampshire, Tennessee. Virginia was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons fan. She was a member of the Lincoln Park Church of Christ. All were impressed by Virginia's ability to remember everyone's birthday and ages. Virginia is survived by her children, Douglas (Moira) Clay of Brownstown, Michigan; Barry Clay of Lincoln Park, Michigan; Anita (John) Clauss of Lincoln Park, Michigan; Billy Clay of River Rouge, Michigan; and Tony (Barb) Clay of Lincoln Park, Michigan; adopted son, Thurman Morris of Ann Arbor, Michigan; brother, Willard Blocker of Waynesboro, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Mary Allie Blocker of Hampshire, Tennessee; Faye Blocker of Columbia, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dawn Surgener; Heith (Tanya) Vaughn; Mary Lynn (Wade) Wells; Rebecca Vaughn; Becky Hart; Gabrielle (George) Daza; Sierra Clauss; Joleen Clay; Johnathon Clay; Virginia Blythe; Ashley (Joey) Byard; Tony II (Mary) Clay; great grandchildren, Heith II, Chloe and Kaylee Vaughn; Nicole Eggles; Wyatt, Austin and Landen Wells; Deklyn Daza; Audree Clay; Mark II and Alize White; Anthony Blythe II; Daemian, Tessa and Ezekiel Hale; Oliver and Ethan Byard; and Connor and Josiah Clay; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Rodriguez; daughter-in-law, Marcia Clay; siblings, Ella Brown Thomason, Gladys Baxter, Henry Blocker, Wesley Blocker, Clarice Bradley, Richard Blocker, Willis Blocker and Annie Mai Blocker.Active pallbearers will be Alvin Blocker, Pete Blocker, Thomas Runions, Ricky Dunn, Bryan Dunn, Todd Baxter, John Dotson and James Lewis Cothran. Honorary pallbearers include Frank Cathey, Tommy Dunn, Ray Dotson and the Hampshire High School class of 1948.
