Mary Ann Fitzgerald Jackson Deen, 81, retired custodian for Whitthorne Middle School and resident of 4th Avenue, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Shawn Jeffries and Mike Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James Colby Fitzgerald and Lecie Ferguson Fitzgerald. She was a true caregiver who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to yard sales. Mrs. Deen was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, whom she married May 8, 1981, Martin Deen of Columbia; sons, Andy Jackson of Columbia, Riley Deen of Santa Fe; daughters, Linda Jackson Russell, Jill (Doug) Reece, Terri (Jeff) Peden all of Columbia, and Debbie (Jackie) Hagan of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Nick Jackson, Nathan Jackson, Victoria (Jeff) Graham, Jeff Dale, Gary Jackson, Tara McMahan, Amanda (Matt) Brasfield, Michael (Alicia) Russell, Zack Reece, Heather Hagan; seventeen great grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Susan) Fitzgerald, Thomas (Mary) Fitzgerald, Edward (Linda) Fitzgerald; sisters, Sara Nance, Nolene (Garland) Horner; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, B.H. Jackson on September 10, 1969; son, Mark Jackson; grandson, Terry Jackson; brothers, James Fitzgerald, Carl Fitzgerald, and Jim Doris Fitzgerald. Active pallbearers will be Gary Jackson, Michael Russell, Nick Jackson, Dustin Peden, Eddie Fitzgerald, and Jeff Fox. Honorary pallbearers include men of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
