MRS. MARY CHARLES DOWDY Mrs. Mary Charles Andrews Mitchell Dowdy, 90, retired employee of Monsanto, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at her residence on Woods Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Kaye Nickell officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Henry Milton Andrews and Lena Cheek Andrews. She was married to James H. Dowdy who preceded her in death on September 19, 1994. She was a 1931 graduate of Culleoka High School and later graduated from Martin College. Mrs. Dowdy was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church where she was President of the Women's Missionary Society and served as church treasurer. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charlie Ann (Henry) Dugger of Columbia; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Juanita Brien of Killen, Texas; Mrs. Sue Anna (Ronald) Eli of Hendersonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe E. & Thelma Andrews of Culleoka; sister-in-law, Louise Andrew of Columbia; three grandchildren, Tim Dugger, Chris (Karen) Dugger, Denise (Chris) Tullis; five step grandchildren, Johnny (Becky) Brien, Cathy (Dennis) Sikorski, Cindy (Mike) Rheinhardt, Rhonda (Ron) Malugin; Craig Eli; three great grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Andrews. Pallbearers will be Tim Dugger, Chris Dugger, Chris Tullis, Waymon Andrews, Edward Andrews, George Pilkinton, James Glenn Dugger, and Bill Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Central Presbyterian Church and retired Monsanto employees.
