Mary Ellen Elias Helton, 84, former owner and operator of Ellen’s Catering Service, and resident of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at NHC Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Brock Lillis officiating. Burial will follow at Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born June 25, 1940 in Columbia, TN, she was the daughter of the late Meshel Elias and the late Elizabeth Jane Matthews Elias. In addition to owning her own catering business, she also owned and operated Piddy Pie’s restaurant in Waco. Mrs. Helton was a member of the River of Life Assembly of God in Smyrna. 

She is survived by her son Michael (Melissa) Helton MD of College Grove, TN; grandchildren Jaclyn (Joseph) Scoggins of Waynesville, NC, Margaret “Meg” Helton of Wilmore, KY, Meredith Helton of College Grove, TN, Eliza Helton of Antwerp, Belgium; great-grandson, Rowan Helton Bailey of College Grove, TN; sister- in-law, Ann Elias of Columbia, TN; nephew, Scott (Monica) Elias of Columbia, TN; niece, Leah(Bill) Fuller of Columbia, TN; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Allen Elias.

Active pallbearers will be grandson-in-law Joseph Scoggins, and family friends Lance Phillips, Gregg Tipton, Chris Stovenour, and Darren Dobbins.
