Mrs. Mary Etta England Grooms, 89, widow of Roy Eugene Grooms and long-time resident of Southport Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Rosewood Manor. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. William Owens, Rev. Bobby Gobbell, and Rev. Eugene Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late J. M. England and Ida Warren England. She was a long-time member of Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include daughters, Billie Jean (William) Owens of Mt. Pleasant and Patsy (David) Fralix of Culleoka; sons, Roy Wayne (Betty) Grooms of Culleoka, Danny (Doris) Grooms of Culleoka, Arnold (Patricia) Grooms of Mt. Pleasant, Charles R. (Nancy) Grooms of Columbia, Tony (Beverly) Grooms of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mettie Ware, Ira Martin; brothers, John B. England, Hershell England; half-sister, May Bell Watkins; half-brother, Tom England; and special friend, Robert "Buzz" Norman. Active pallbearers are grandsons, Dwayne Grooms, Danny Glenn Grooms, Phillip Grooms, Jason Grooms, Chuck Grooms, Josh Grooms, Timmy Owens, and Michael Fralix. Members of Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family expresses appreciation to Mrs. Charlene Brown, Debra Boshears and the Staff of Rosewood Manor for their care and devotion during Mrs. Grooms' illness.
