Mary Virginia Hood

Mrs. Mary Virginia Witherspoon Hood, 84, resident of Rogersville, Alabama, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at ECM Hospital in Florence, AL. Funeral services will be conducted at 2p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols with Brother David Lash officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Stockard W. Witherspoon, Sr. and Francis Nicholson Witherspoon. She was married to Thomas Hood who preceded her in death March 1974. She was a 1940 graduate of Columbia Central High School, a homemaker and attended the Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, James K. "Jimmy" (Betty) Biffle, III of Rogersville, AL; a brother, Stockard W. "Pete" (Bernice) Witherspoon, Jr. of Athens, AL; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Gerie) Biffle of Athens, AL; Jonathan (Rochelle) Biffle of Decatur, AL; Jeff (Laura) Biffle of Killen, AL; Tonya (Tim) Bell and Tommy Cartee both of Rogersville, AL; Teresa Cartee of Muschel Shoals, AL; Tina (Scott) Sisk of Lynchburg; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandson and grandsons-in-law.
