Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Dodson, 67, retired employee of Union Carbide and resident of Hays Drive, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at NHC Columbia. A funeral mass will be conducted Monday, April 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Dan Reehil officiating and Deacon Dan McCulley assisting. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the mass at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 10, 1954 in Maury County, she was the daughter of Madison Elonzo Dodson and the late Mary Hazel Erwin Dodson. She was a 1972 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Jackie’s working career began at Union Carbide, where she worked in Production Control, Systems design, was a Foreman, and traveled to Italy, Canada, and Mexico for Computer projects. In 2003, she retired from Union Carbide and in 2004 taught Algebra at Central High School. In 2005, she began working for Edward Jones as branch office administrator and retired in January 2021. Jackie enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, smocking, watching her nephew play baseball, and her niece play soccer and swim. Jackie was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. In addition to her father, Madison Dodson of Columbia; survivors include her brother, Jerry (Susan Davis) Dodson of Columbia; niece, Julie Dodson (Andrew) Ackley of Columbia; nephew, Steven (Kalah Mathis) Dodson of Columbia; great nephew, Luke Ackley of Columbia; great niece, Lillian Ackley of Columbia; and special cousin, Patricia Taylor Richardson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends that supported her during her illness, Rhonda and Chuck Beasley, Joy and Joe LaCroix , Enid and Agustin Fernandez, Brandie and Jody Grace, Sally Soisson, Elaine and Tom Paral, Irma Cantu, Ricky Armstrong, and Peggy Prentice and the staff of Caris Hospice.
