MARY EVELYN JETT Mrs. Mary Evelyn Knowles Jett, 93, former resident of Pickens Road in Lynnville, died Wednesday, December 9, 2003, at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Milton Stephens and Brother Mack Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 until time of service at the funeral home.Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hampshire native was the daughter of the late Jessie Knowles and Lillie Flowers Knowles. She was a 1930 graduate of Hampshire High School where she was valedictorian of her class. On February 15, 1934 she married William Edward "Willie" Jett who preceded her in death September 3, 1980. She was a homemaker and member of Lynnville Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Doris (Ronald) Bussell of Nashville, Evelyn Faye (Robert) Brewer of Lynnville, Barbara (James) Griggs of Tullahoma; two sons, Charles Jett of Lynnville, David (Thelma) Jett of Pulaski; one sister, Thelma Rush of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law Helen Knowles of Mt. Pleasant; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bussell, Dwight Myers, Richard Myers, Steve Jett, Knox Vanderpool and Larry Pogue. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lynnville Church of Christ and her nieces and nephews.
