Mary Alice Johnson, age 93, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 22, 2024 surrounded by her family. 

Born on November 28, 1931, in Columbia, TN, Mary was raised on her family’s farm. She graduated from Columbia Central High School and went on to marry Morris Johnson. Mary worked at McClellan’s Department Store and later retired after many years of service from Beaman Bottling Company. A faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Spring Hill, TN, Mary had a compassionate and giving true servant’s heart. She was known for her love of helping others, often bringing food to those in need. Mary Alice had an infectious personality and never met a stranger. Her laughter and energy were always present, whether cheering at the baseball field or chatting with friends and family. Above all, she loved her grandchildren with all that she had. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Margaret Campbell Lunn, and her brother Jimmy Lunn. She leaves behind her husband of 73 years, Morris Johnson; her sons Larry (Debbie) Johnson and Terry (Angie) Johnson; and niece Judy (Charlie) Morton. Mary is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Brady (Hanna) Johnson and Chase Johnson, as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Visitation will be begin at 12:00 with her service following at 2:00 p.m. Her service will be officiated by Tom Toner and Jack Gillespie of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 

Pallbearers will include Brady Johnson, Chase Johnson, David Jester, Lewis Johnson, Dean Johnson, Paxton Morton, Hunter Morton and Charlie Morton. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Morton, Hayden Burton, Shane Hay, JT Lunn, Austin Webb, Jerry Sharp and the elders of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Stephanie Hamm for their exceptional care and love towards Mary. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Room at the Inn or The Alzheimer’s Association.
