Mary Betsy Weaver Kirk, 83, retired elementary school teacher and resident of Rosewood Drive, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30a.m. Saturday at Highland Church of Christ with Kirk Brothers and Allan Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, 356 Middle Road, Riverhead, New York, 11901. She was Salutatorian of her graduating class at Giles County High School and received her teaching degree from David Lipscomb University. She was a longtime resident of Ethridge, TN. During her teaching career she taught school at Minders, Summertown and Ethridge. She was an avid member of Senior Citizens Water Aerobics at the Y.M.C.A. Mrs. Kirk was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Jan Kirk (Steve) Wright of Spring Hill; three sons, Jerry (Dianne) Kirk, James Kirk both of Columbia, Joe (Elaine) Kirk of Minor Hill; nine grandchildren, Shelley Lloyd, Allan Kirk, Michelle Kirk, Tiffany Kirk, Adam Wright, Allison Wright, Krystyl Kirk, Jimmy Kirk, Sarah Feron; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ola Mae Andrews of New Johnsonville, Sara (Garland) Glenn of Spring Hill, Jane Trimble, Pearl (Dugin) Kincaid and Nellie (Valton) Rummage all of Columbia; three brothers, Clarence Weaver and Jack (Fay) Weaver both of Spring Hill, Bill (Valree) Weaver of Woodbury; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kirk, a daughter, Sue Ann Kirk, three brothers Roy Weaver, Dock Weaver, George Weaver and one sister, Eulala Prestridge. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be elders, deacons and ministers at Graymere Church of Christ.
