Mrs. Mary Evelyn Locke-McDonald, 57, former registered nurse in Nashville and Middle Tennessee area hospitals and resident of Nashville, died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Southern Hills Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Wright and Jeremy Atkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in the Theta Community. The Franklin, Tennessee native was a 1968 graduate of Glencliff High School and earned her nursing degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She was a member of Woodbine Church of Christ. She was a member of the Nashville Chihuahua Society and was very active in campaigns and activities of the Democratic Party. Survivors include her husband, Ralph McDonald of Nashville; her mother and step-father, Mary Hicks Locke Hamm and Bobby Hamm of Nashville; two sisters, Billie (Skip) Atkins of Bell Buckle and Rita Underwood of Dickson; a step-son, Bernie (Amber) McDonald of Centerville; a niece, Stephanie Canada of Christiana; a nephew, Jeremy (Alanna) Atkins of Spring Hill; great-niece and great-nephew, Cory Canada and Courtney Canada; her loving dog, Tippy; step-sisters and step-brothers, Becky Hamm, Gina Winchester, Terry Hamm, Bob Hamm, and Mike Hamm. She was preceded in death by her father, William Paul Locke and grandparents, Willie and Maggie Rountree Locke. Active pallbearers are Jeremy Atkins, Wayne Durham, Cory Canada, Bob Hamm, Stephen Freeman, and Amos McCoy. Honorary pallbearers include Judge Amanda McClendon, State Representative Janis Sontany, U. S. Representative Bart Gordon, and members of Woodbine Church of Christ.
