Mary Caroline Harlan McClain, 69, resident of Second Avenue, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. To honor her wishes, no service will be scheduled. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family. Born May 14, 1945 in Clarksville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Ernest Harlan and Lula Lorraine Foust Harlan. Reared in Mt. Pleasant, the 1963 graduate of Hay Long High School received her BA in Associate Science from Columbia State Community College in 1971 and practiced as a LPN and Registered Nurse. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and worked as a Radiology Technician at Vanderbilt Medical Center for several years. Mary Caroline continued her education at Madison Hospital School of Anesthesiology and worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at Maury Regional Medical Center, St. Thomas Hospital, VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, as well as Jackson General Hospital. She held a special interest in photography, cosmetology, and real estate and had worked in all these fields at one time. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her son, Bill (Amber) McClain of Linden; grandsons, Will McClain of Linden and Nicolas McClain of Nashville; granddaughter, Brooke McClain of Hohenwald; great grandchildren, Ayden Dunn and Jaxon Cagle; sisters, Kay (Bill) Webb of Waverly; Harryette (Dan) Huffstutter of Belle Meade; Anne (Donnie) McKinney of Murfreesboro; Laura (Phil) Harpel of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
