Mary Pearl Curtis Chumbley, 81, homemaker and resident of Rosewood Drive, died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 10, 1937 in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Curtis and the late Fannie Jane Isley Curtis. In 1956, she married L.A. Chumbley who preceded her in death in 1980. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved her family and enjoyed cooking especially chocolate pies whenever anyone was sick. Mrs. Chumbley loved watching red birds, and country music especially Alan Jackson. She was a member of South Gate Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Charles (Barbara) Chumbley of Chapel Hill; Lisa Cole of Columbia; and Patsy (Michael) Fox of Culleoka; grandchildren, Mandy (Joey) Mills of Santa Fe; Stevie (Brigitte) McEwen of Culleoka; Sandy (Eric) Sisk of Culleoka; Hunter Cole of Shelbyville; Morgan Fox of Culleoka; ten great grandchildren; sister, Fannie (James) Love of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Chumbley Allen; brothers, James Curtis, Paul Wayne Curtis; and sister, Martha Adcock. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
