View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mary Jane Bassham Peden, 76, resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12:00 noon at Oakes & Nichols with Dr. Dwain Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Henry Edward Bassham and Nannie Frizzell Bassham. She was a 1952 graduate of Haylong High School. On August 3, 1952 she married George A. Peden of Columbia who survives. Mrs. Peden was retired from J.C. Penney where she had been manager of the Children's Department. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters Sherry (Alan) Tate and Marsha (Terry) Hann both of Columbia; two sons Rickey (Teresa) Peden and Jeff (Terri) Peden both of Columbia; two sisters Bettye Cornwell of Columbia, Joyce (David) Hughes of Mt. Pleasant; four brothers Pete (Judy) Bassham of Niceville, Florida, Jimmy Bassham, Tommy (Loretta) Bassham, David (Vicky) Bassham all of Columbia; grandchildren Scott (Aubrey) Tate, Zach (Meghan) Tate, Miranda (Brian) Wood, Dustin Peden, Kit Peden, Cam Peden, Carly Peden; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bassham and sister, Sue Plew. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
