Mary Gail Rountree Pigg, 78, longtime resident of Mingo Branch Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor David Usry officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 14, 1939 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Eugene Rountree and the late Mary Groves Rountree. She was a 1957 graduate of Santa Fe High School and attended Columbia Business College. Mrs. Pigg was employed at Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for eleven years and retired after twenty-one years as clerk at the Santa Fe Post Office. An avid collector of antiques and memorabilia, she and her husband lovingly restored Pigg Schoolhouse on their farm. She enjoyed farming and yardwork. She was a member of Santa Fe United Methodist Church and had more recently attended Mt. Wesley-Akin Nazarene Church. Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Charles Edward Pigg of Santa Fe; brother, Harry (Barbara) Rountree of Water Valley Community; nephews, Steve (Julia) Priest of AL; Roger (Mary) Priest of Laguna Vista, TX; Dan Pigg of Martin, TN; sister-in-law, Mattie Beth Hogan Pigg of Columbia; and her beloved dog, Bo Willie. She was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Peggy Rountree and Doris Priest; and brother-in-law, Wendell Pigg. Active pallbearers will be Frank Jones, Marlin Arnold, Steve Patterson, Tony Foster, Jeff Estes, Tony Sowell, David Skillington, Elton Sisk, Daryl Brown, Jimmy Massey, and Dwight Groves. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Priest, Roger Priest, Dan Pigg, Michael Priest, Matthew Priest, Ken MacNair, Santa Fe Class of 1957, and members of Mt. Wesley-Akin Nazarene Church.
