MRS. MARY RENFRO Mrs. Mary Augusta Gibson Renfro, 80, retired Civil Service Employee and resident of Sixth Avenue, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Art Robins officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. "Jack" Gibson and Augusta Pulliam Gibson. She was a 1941 graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. On January 15, 1956 she married George W. Renfro who preceded her in death April 3, 1992. From 1942 to 1950 she was employed at the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. In 1951 she helped organize the Soil Conservation Service Office in Maury County, retiring in 1960. Mrs. Renfro was a Girl Scout Volunteer for thirty-nine years and a Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary volunteer. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Keith) Shields of Columbia; two sons, Bill (Leedith) Renfro of Jacksonville, Florida, Jim Renfro of Columbia; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Shields, Hunter Renfro, Andrew Renfro and Benjamin Renfro. Pallbearers will be Bill Renfro, Jim Renfro, Keith Shields, Harold Meador, James Fred Gidcomb and John Gibson, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Walls, Tony Smith, John Gibson, Jr., Emily Warren, Chuck Rodgers, Mary Murphy, Nell Hayes, Elizabeth Kittrell, Ann Gibson, Reba Meador, Ricky Martin and Mr. and Mrs. James Minatra.
