Mrs. Mary Alice Liles Staggs, 79, resident of Caldwell Drive, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Entombment will be in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Parkinson Disease Association, 2300 Patterson Dr., Nashville, TN 37203. She was a graduate of Hazelwood High School. On June 20, 1948 she married Jesse Bob Staggs who preceded her in death December 3, 2005. Mrs. Staggs was a retired seamstress from Publix Shirt Corporation. She was a member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters, Connie (Cody) Ingram, Debbie (W.L.) Culberson, Kim (Lee) Duff all of Columbia, Sandy (Carl) Mills of Spring Hill, Mitzi (Jack) Sonafelt of Brentwood; fifteen grandchildren, Steve Ingram, Becky (Josh) Kennedy, Amy Ingram, Mackenzie (Terry) Skiles, Meghan (Zach) Tate, Rusty Mills, Keith Mills, Tucker Devore, Gracie Devore, Natalie (Preston) Carroll, II, Adison Duff, Jason Sonafelt, Kate Sonafelt; six great-grandchildren, Owen Kennedy, James Kennedy, Linley Skiles, Ella Tate, Courtney Mills, Chase Mills; great-great grandchild, Caydence Mills; one sister, Dorothy (Willard) Norton of Town Creek, AL; four brothers, Harlan (Nadine) Liles, Mack (Francis) Liles, Danny Joe (Elaine) Liles, Scott (Patricia) Liles all of Town Creek, AL. She was preceded in death by two brothers Jakie Liles, Donald Ray Liles and a sister, Eva Jean Counterman. Pallbearers will be Steve Ingram, Rusty Mills, Keith Mills, Adison Duff, Tucker Devore, Josh Kennedy, Terry Skiles, Zach Tate and Preston Carroll, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Campbell Sowell, Jr., Dr. Gibran Naddy, Eddie Baker, Leroy Burns, Mary Green Key, Troy Bowers, the staff of NHC Columbia and retired employees of Publix Shirt Corporation.
