Mattie Sue McDonald Drinka

Mrs. Mattie Sue McDonald Drinka, 76, former longtime resident of Columbia and widow of Robert Paul Drinka, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at her residence on Autumn Lane in Decatur, Alabama. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Scotty Hogan officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602. She was a homemaker and a member of Westmeade Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama. Mrs. Drinka left Columbia in the 1960s and made her home in Chicago, Illinois. When her husband died she moved to Decatur, Alabama to be near her family. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda (Randell) Smith of Decatur, AL; her son, David (Shellie) Wiley of Smyrna; sister, Jo Ann (Carl) Burt of Ft. Worth, TX; brother, Joseph McDonald of Nashville; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, George Ray Wiley; two brothers, Thomas McDonald and James McDonald; and one sister, Sadie McDonald. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
