Mattie Brown Williams

Mattie Mae Brown Williams, 80, died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at her residence in Woodhaven, Michigan where she had made her home for several years. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakley Cemetery with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Thomas Arthur Brown and Irene Gray Brown. On December 19, 1953, she married James Everett Williams who preceded her in death December 3, 1977. Mrs. Williams was a retired employee of AJM Packaging Company in Michigan. She was very devoted to her grandchildren and enjoyed the many pets they had adopted through the years. Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Roger) Contreras of Columbia; Yolanda (Alex) Martinez of Woodhaven, Michigan; sister, Doris Pratt of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrea Martinez, Alex Martinez, James Contreras, and Natalie Contreras; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Pipkin and J. D. Brown; and sister, Marie Slaughter. Pallbearers will be Andrea Martinez, Alex Martinez, Jr., James Contreras, Natalie Contreras, Yolanda Martinez, Shane Hickman, Josh Brawner, and Alex Martinez, Sr.
