Maurice Manning Anderson, Jr., 72, retired Project Manager for DuPont, died Friday, November 17, 2017, at his residence on General Forrest Drive. Interment will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 -7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born September 15, 1945, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Maurice M. Anderson, Sr. and the late Ethleen Wilson Anderson. Mr. Anderson attended elementary school in Columbia and was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy. He received his BS, MS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee and was granted a National Defense fellowship to attend Graduate School. He retired in 2004 as Projects Manager of Industrial Polymers and Commercial Plastics after a thirty-four-year career with DuPont. After his retirement, he returned to Columbia and was very active in the Republican Party, having served as Treasurer and an Election Commissioner in Maury County. He was a member and former president of Sertoma Club; and a member of American Nuclear Society, Tau Beta Pi, and UT Alumni. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Evalia Jean Rogers Anderson of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Maurice Manning Anderson, III, & Bonnie Kelley Anderson of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson Lodewijk & Erik Lodewijk of Franklin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Haywood Shields & Harriett Anderson of Colorado and Donald Bayless & Patricia Anderson of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Piet Atticus Lodewijk, Wilm Anders Lodewijk, Emma Madelief Lodewijk, and Julia Edenton.
