Mr. Max A. Woody, 88, retired plumber and resident of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Keith Parker officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Max Alexander Woody and Etta Gidcomb Woody. He was married to Sarah Robb Palmer who preceded him in death on December 17, 2004. Mr. Woody was reared in Spring Hill and lived most of his adult life in Oak Ridge where he was a self-employed plumber. After his retirement he moved to Hendersonville to be near his daughter. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Max (Malinda) Woody, Jr. of Smyrna; one daughter, Mrs. Wynne (Craig) Callis of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Alex Woody, Mark Woody, Jenny (Owen) Slaughter, Katie Callis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Carrie Gray, Ruby Bolton, Jean Woody, Laura May Woody, and four brothers, Robert Woody, Howard Woody, Billy Woody, and Fulton Woody. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
