Marion Maxine Burns Sparks, 93, former longtime resident of Fry Branch Road in the Lynnville Community, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Signature Health Care of Erin. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 6, 1922 in Walker County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Zachery J. Burns and the late Melinda "Lindy" Atkins Burns. On April 7, 1941, she married James Luquer Sparks, who preceded her in death August 21, 1998. Mrs. Sparks enjoyed sewing, designing quilt tops, crocheting, painting, and visiting with friends. She was a member of Lynnville Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Jean Sloan of Murfreesboro; Betty (Randall) Hendley of Columbia; sons, James Mac (Margaret) Sparks and Ronald (Carolyn) Sparks, both of Lynnville; Billy Ray (Linda) Sparks of Erin; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Sparks; granddaughter, Megan Sparks; great grandson, Lane Farris; three sisters; and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Eric Sloan, Troy Hendley, Randy Hendley, Blake Sloan, Justin Briggs, Brian Sloan, and Will Farris.
