MRS. MAY DEAN RUSSELL Mrs. May Dean Brewer "Mama Dean" Russell, 64, resident of East Ninth Street, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Robert Carlos Brewer and Annie Powell Brewer. She was married to William Garrett "Buddy" Russell, former Columbia Assistant Fire Chief, who preceded her in death in 1976. She was Mom (Mama Dean) to several special friends and extended family members. Mrs. Russell was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Frank L. Russell and Robert Michael Russell both of Columbia; three brothers, Comer Ellis Brewer, Douglas Wayne (Patricia) Brewer both of Columbia, Ricky Dale Brewer of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Laverne (Charles) Attkisson of Lyles; four grandchildren, Matthew Benjamin Russell, Michael Brandon Russell, Phillip Daniel Russell, Misty Dawn Wilcox; five nieces, Debbera Kay Scroggins, Lorie Anne Wise, Joanie Phillips, Linda Gonzales, Pam Watkins; six nephews, Mike Brewer, Randy Attkisson, Comer Bryant Brewer, Troy Brewer, Robert D. Brewer, Douglas Van Brewer; and four great-nieces, Stephanie Sackrider, Lindsey Tillery, Breanna Wise and Lana Phillips. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Dayton Brewer, Robert Henley Brewer and Vandon Ray Brewer. Pallbearers will be Tony Sackrider, Mike Brewer, Earl Wise, Troy Brewer, Ricky Pinkleton, Comer Bryant Brewer and Rollie Whilhoite.
