Melanie Jane Morris White, 58, resident of Lake Circle, died Friday August 23, 2019 surrounded by her family at her residence. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home and Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services at the church. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Ave, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 5, 1961 in Maury County, she was the daughter of Betsy Ross Campbell Williams and the late C.E. Morris. A graduate of Columbia Central High School Class of 1979,  and a graduate of Columbia State Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Pre Education. Later in life, she continued her education and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Volunteer State Community College 1987, with an Associate’s degree in physical therapy. Mrs. White worked as a physical therapist for 35 years at various places such as NHC, Middle Tennessee Bone and Joint Clinic, and Maury Regional Medical Center. She loved horseback riding and had a passion for owning her own horses. Mrs. White was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her husband whom she married on May 29, 1993, Floyd Denison White of Columbia; her mother, Betsy Ross Campbell Williams of Columbia sons, Brandon David Harmon of Columbia, Frank Ross (Mary) Harmon of Gallatin, Benjamin Denison White of Columbia; stepchildren, Floyd Denison (Hylin) White III of Columbia, Stephanie Elizabeth White of Columbia; brother Gregory Neil Morris of Columbia; granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Harmon; step grandchildren, Madison Ann Merritt, Triston Allen Merritt, Sophia Merritt, Kileigh White; niece, Lindsey Morris; aunt, Jane Campbell Alexander of Columbia; step sisters, Kim Willis of Columbia, Kara Huckaby of Columbia; step brothers, Doug (Shirley) Williams of Columbia, and Dan (Missy) Williams of Columbia. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step father, J. Frank Williams, and her maternal grandparents, Sam and Lucy Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be The Riverside United Methodist Church Choir.
